The iPhone Battery: How Good Is It?
The Apple Ipod is the standard that most MP3 players try to live up to. While the new Apple iPhone marks Apple's first foray into the market of smartphones. I'm sure the iPhone will be a success, the question is whether it will become as great a success for Apple as it's Ipod, and become an industry standard.
The phone's touch system is of course it's most remarkable attribute. The commercials are everywhere and it seems that public consciousness has been altered by the stunning feature set of the phone. The iPhone is basically a smartphone with all kinds of multimedia capabilities. It plays Mp3's, podcasts, videos, connects to the internet and does it all wirelessly. It offers two levels of storage, 4 gigabytes and 8 gigabytes, giving the user plenty of storage for all these multimedia capabilities. The phone is powered by a proprietary Apple battery.
According to Apple, the iPhone battery has a talk time rating of eight hours, while internet usage time is estimated at six hours, depending on the video format the battery should last up to seven hours, twenty-four hours of podcast and music playback, and a very impressive two hundred fifty hours of standby time power.
The iPhone battery shows the experience that Apple has gained through it's iPod products. It completely blows away the competition. Consider the top competitors to the iPhone. For instance the Nokia N95 only has a talk time of about 4 hours. The Samsung Blackjack only has a talktime of about 5.5 hours, the Palm Treo, and the Blackberry Curve 8300 only come in at about 4 hours of talk time which is doubled by the iPhone battery.
The iPhone battery is truly impressive.
There is one definite downside to the otherwise impressive iPhone battery: the iPhone battery is non removable. It is internal.
Because there are no removable batteries, when you travel with an iPhone you should always bring a travel charger. Most smartphone models can have their battery easily replaced if the phone becomes discharged, while the iPhone must be charged immediately in order to use the phone. Most smartphone users, using "the usual" smartphones, purchase extra batteries for those in case of emergency situations. With the iPhone battery, this isn't possible.
If there ever is an issue with the battery, or the battery naturally loses it's life due to age you'll find the other major issue with the iPhone's battery. In the event that you need the iPhone battery replaced, you'd need to bring the phone into an official iPhone shop to have an technician replace the battery.
The iPhone is a very capable phone that won't be hampered by insufficient battery life. We think you'll be well pleased with it.
