The Application of Science to Entertainment Has Made Us Lazy
Going shopping was one of the favourite "hobbies" for women all over the world, but now they choose to do other things. The application of science to entertainment has made us lazy: TV, DVD, computers, MP3 players...Why go out when we have everything at home? Why spend time cooking when you have the sandwich-maker which gets you out of every trouble? Why bother washing and ironing when you have the dry-cleaning at the corner of the street and they do everything fo you?
There are persons who love to play computer games all day long. Their pleasure turns into passion. Soon they discover the important place that computer takes in their life. There are cases in which it can take the first place in one’s life. It gets even more important than one's family. The computer becomes a priority, especially in the children’s lives. They give up getting out of the house. They also give up reading and playing.
I think computers threaten our privacy as much as we allow it. We have to use other ways of entertaining ourselves. We must also allocate less time to the computer and more time to our family and friends.
Why do the house-cleaning when there are persons who earn a living from this?
There is a solution for everything..but to have all these you need money, money earned by hard work. So far, technology hasn't solved this problem. Comfort and stability are to be obtained only with great efforts and many sleepless nights. To get the best products you have to work a lot, because high quality means a great deal of money.
When you see how many things you can buy so that you make your existance easier you don't care you have to work ten hours a day or you don't have a free weekend. You make all these efforts because you know you'll later be rewarded. So, in this aspect we haven't become lazy, I could say that quite hard-working.
