Glycerin: The Key to Natural Skin Hydration in Soaps
In the soap making process, soap saponification naturally creates a compound called glycerin. Glycerin is created as a strong base reacts with natural fatty acids called triglycerides. The result is a lower pH than that of store bought soaps (which contain Sodium Lauryl Sulfate which is very basic), bringing the goats milk soap nearer to human skin and hair pH.
