4 ways to improve the search engine friendliness of your website

Preparing your website for search engine submission is a vital process for achieving high search engine rankings. Having said that the steps to follow are not difficult to master if you follow the following four simple guide lines

Tip #1 Headlines Are Important

A web page can have more than one headline. The main headline is the one at the top of the page or article. It is called a H1 tag. Make sure keywords are included here. It is not out of the question for the headlines to bear more weight than paragraphs and other text.

It is still considered good practice to have second or third headline, namely H2 and H3, This is a good opportunity to incorporate the main keyword or phrase or perhaps a secondary one related to the main keyword

Tip #2 Using Keywords In Body Text

The text inserted into the webpage should be considered carefuly. The text should at least contain the main keyword as near to the start and end as possible, and the content of the page or article should be relevant to the main keywords. By this I mean that it is no good trying to cram a load of keywords into some irrelevant text.

Please bear in mind that your page will be ranked based on the content of your text. Although using fancy graphics can improve the overall look and feel of your website use them sparingly as Search engines can not read keywords in JavaScript, and many types of graphics

Tip #3 Using Keywords in your page title

You should always include your main Keywords in the title of the page. This is the information that appears at the top of your browser window.

It is often the case that this description will appear in the search listing for the highest ranked sites for any given keyword search. This shows the importance attached to this by the search engines.

Tip #4 Using Alt tags for your images.

Make sure Alt tags are added to image descriptions, in order to maximize your search engine optimization efforts. Doing so will also help the viewers experience in case any images don't load.

However, never use more than 2 - 3 keywords in any one Alt tag. Also, don't repeat the same keywords in different ALT tags. It's best to use related keywords or even mispellings.

This entire process should not take you too long and is well worth the effort to help improve your search engine rankings.
