All About The Black Siberian Husky

So many people bring a Black Siberian Husky into their homes not really knowing what they are all about or what they can expect. They are a compact breed with a thick coat and considered a working dog that is capable of withstanding freezing temperatures down to an amazingly impressive sixty degrees below zero. Even though Black Siberian Husky's are mostly black, it is not uncommon for them to have white markings on their face.

And although the blue eyes are something that attracts most people to the Husky, not all of the dogs have the same blue eyes. There are many different Husky's that have amber, brown, or even a mix of two different colors, for example one eye could be blue while the other one is brown. There is no mistake, as this breed is one that will need proper attention as the thick and warm undercoat and their softer outer coat, makes for brushing to be a must.

Just as you would want to take a careful look at the temperament of any dog or any type of breed, you want to make sure that the temperament of the Black Siberian Husky is something that is going to mesh while within your home and your family. While this breed is generally known for being playful and gentle, they are also known to get into a little bit of a mess now and again as they are very mischievous. If you are looking for a dog that will play nicely with children and strangers, then this just may be the dog that you would enjoy.

But if it is a guard dog that you are keeping an eye out for, you may what to reconsider this breed, as this dog will not bark often, as they love absolutely everyone. While every owner wants their dog to be trained, those who end up owning a Black Siberian Husky needs to know that this breed often has a mind of its own and will only listen to your commands when they feel like it.

It does seem though that while they are extremely intelligent dogs, they only listen to your commands when they feel that it is justified. They work at their own pace and seem to have a mind of their own, which can be a wonderful thing on one hand and then a terrible thing on another. But all in all, this is a pretty well balanced dog that is both playful and gentle.

While many people see the Black Siberian Husky to be somewhat of a larger breed, they tend to think that they do not need as much exercise but that is simply not the case. The males can grow in weight up to sixty pounds and the females can grow up to fifty pounds. Even at their full-grown weight, they still need plenty of room to run.

Also, it is important to understand that these are energetic animals that must have room to run. As it may be advisable that they do not end up in small and cramped apartments, if this does become the case, it is a vitally important that they are given plenty of exercise in a park or somewhere they can run.

If you are ready, willing, and able to provide the Black Siberian Husky with the love, attention, and healthy living conditions it requires, then now is the time to begin looking so you can find that perfect friend.
