Thesis Writing, Easy to Accomplish!
Those of us who have been through school or college would have gone through the difficult and formidable task of writing a thesis. It is an unavoidable phase in our life which requires us to have a composed attitude and bold approach. An important warning is that this task is going to be quite difficult and burdensome for those of you who do not know how to be organized.
When it comes to writing your thesis if you will look at it in pieces and not a whole the task becomes less overwhelming and easier to complete. So to write a great thesis you need to remember to break it down in pieces and start small. When you get to the end of it you will know that you did it well, and that you have completed the most satisfying experience of your time at school all in one paper.
Now it is time to begin your organization. The first step is to describe your thesis. This contains only the main title, sub titles, and figure titles. You can put some of your comments and notes where you need to put them. This paper outline gives you an idea of how your paper will read when completed. Once this is done, you will see that your work is easier when it is organized.
The best approach is probably to get the simple things done first. Try getting the easier tasks out of the way. The Material and Method area of the thesis is most likely the easiest part of the paper so sit down and try to finish it all in one sitting.
Take each of these titles and read it out loud while imagining that you are telling your peers. Remember to keep the titles in order as you tell about them. Write down any notes or important points that you noticed while making your presentation. Once you have your outline done it would not hurt and could be your best move yet to discuss it with your thesis adviser.
Next you need to put your work in order. This is a task a lot of us fail to do and some will not be able to do it at all. Even if you have all the information you need and an excellent research topic but, if you can't get all your ducks in a row you will never successfully put together your works when it is needed the most. The best thing to do is save each chapter as a different file, and then make a file for references. If it is possible, burn the files to a disk, save on a floppy or a flash drive. Or as a last resort, send them to yourself as attachments via e mail. This way if your computer decided to take a hike you will still have all your information. Also it is a good idea to save after every paragraph because you never know when a friend will close the lid on you!
Now simply take all of this information, and write your thesis. Here is what you will find in a thesis and the order they need to be in. Begin with the title page, then table of contents, followed by the abstract, introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion and finish with the conclusion.
Finally, you come to a very important part of writing a thesis. It includes revising and editing the document as a whole. Make sure that you have all the numbers and facts right. Stylistic and grammatical mistakes need to be avoided without any exception. Try to get some experienced people in your field to look at it before turning in your thesis. So, writing a thesis may be formidable or simple depending on how you approach this big task.
